Schedule a Surrender
Midcoast Humane accepts stray and surrendered animals from the towns with which it hold contracts. Each animal that comes through our doors is given food, comfort, full medical care, and will be put up for adoption.
If you live in one of our contracted towns and need to surrender your pet, you must schedule a surrender appointment. This will give us time to prepare a spot for your pet and get some important information from you that will help us place your pet in the best home possible. There is an additional fee for unscheduled surrenders.
To schedule a surrender appointment, click on the appropriate link below or call (207) 449-1366 x208.

A staff member will contact you by phone or email as soon as possible to discuss your surrender. Completing an application does not guarantee we are able to accept your surrender. Because we endeavor to keep animals in loving homes, we may discuss additional resources with you.
Surrender Appointment
During your appointment, we will ask you about your pet’s personality, habits, and needs. The more details you can provide us about your animal the better, as we will use this information to help your pet find the ideal home. Please bring your pet’s medical records with you.
We ask for a small fee that will help us cover the costs of caring for your pet until they are placed in a new home. If the fee is an obstacle in bringing your animal to us, we will work with you in the best interest of the animal.
