Our Foster Care Program
Midcoast Humane has lots of happy endings due in no small part to our Foster Program. We rely on cozy homes and loving caretakers like you to care for pets in need until they’re eligible for adoption. That could mean caring for motherless kittens, soon-to-be mothers, under-socialized animals, senior pets, animals recovering from sickness, or other animals with special needs. Foster animals are most commonly cats and kittens, but can also be dogs, puppies, rabbits, and occasionally other small animals. Once approved to foster, Midcoast Humane will provide the training for you, and the medical care, food, litter, and bedding the animal needs. You provide the comfortable, quiet environment these future pets need while they get ready for adoption!
Application Process
Thank you for your interest in fostering with Midcoast Humane! Our orientation and sign up process is easy to do from the comfort of your own home and the total process should take about 1.5 hours. Once complete, you’ll be paired with a suitable foster pet!

- Once complete, you will be directed to fill out our Foster Application.
After your application is accepted you’ll be contact by a member of our Foster Team to welcome you aboard and pair you with an appropriate foster animal! If at any point you need any help with this process please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at foster@midcoasthumane.org.
