Our Volunteer of the Month is Sarah! Sarah started her relationship with Midcoast Humane as an employee, working for us briefly in 2017. She left to start a new career with IDEXX, but couldn’t stop thinking about how much she enjoyed working with the shelter animals. Last summer, she realized she had spent long enough away from Midcoast Humane, and became a volunteer with us, helping with cleaning in our ISO Cat area! Sarah says her favorite part of volunteering is getting to know the animals, doing what she can to make their day brighter, and being able to be a part of their journey through the shelter.
Sarah was nominated for Volunteer of the Month because of her upbeat, positive energy, willingness to help our staff and the animals with whatever they need, and deep passion for the kitties in our care. One staff member said “Immediately when Sarah comes in she starts to clean all the cat kennels quickly and thoroughly. She makes sure that every cat has everything they need and also makes sure to give them some loving. Sarah also goes the extra mile by helping out with trash, cat carriers, dishes, laundry, etc. We love when Sarah comes in, she is always in a good mood and brings her positive energy to the ISO cats.” Thank you Sarah, for all that you do for Midcoast Humane!
The volunteers of Midcoast Humane are an invaluable part of how we achieve our mission of making life better for the pets and people in our community. They do this through supporting an environment that is: professional, positive, knowledgeable, and compassionate. They treat animals kindly and compassionately at all times, treat everyone that walks through our doors with with respect, and value working as a team. Most importantly, they enjoy the fact that they are doing something important that makes a difference.
