Vet For a Day

Midcoast Humane is very fortunate to have two full-time veterinarians on staff as well as a whole clinical team to make sure our animals get the medical care they need.  Dr. Mandie Wehr is our Director of Shelter Operations, and specialized in shelter medicine while in veterinary school She has worked with thousands of animals since joining our team in 2012.

Vet for a Day provides an opportunity for your child to spend four hours in our clinic with Dr. Wehr and her clinic staff to learn about veterinary medicine and observe surgeries, intake exams, and more.

Sessions take place from 10am to 2pm, and include an introduction to sheltering, a tour of our facility, and hands-on time in our veterinary clinic with Dr. Wehr and other trained professionals. This is a great opportunity to expose your child to a potential career in veterinary medicine.

With the recent addition of the Mobile Surgery Unit to our organization, we are now able to offer the Vet For a Day program at both our Edgecomb Campus and our Brunswick Campus.  Ask us about scholarship opportunities!

Students must be between 12 and 18 years old to participate. Please note that each session is limited to one student to provide the best possible learning opportunity for your child. Space is available on a first come, first served basis. For this reason, payment in full is required at the time of registration.
