UPDATE: We raised an incredible $5,673.10 to help cover medical bills for Bandit-O, Diego-O and Jackie-O! In additon, as of November 7, 2022, all three dogs are available for adoption at our Brunswick campus! For more information about each dog, please visit our adoptable dog page by clicking here.  As always, thank you for your support.

Midcoast Humane has committed to helping Bandit-O, Dieg-O, and Jackie-O, dogs who were brought to the Sumpter Humane Society in Georgia, a shelter that we know well and work with often.

An animal control officer found them on a property where they had been abandoned. They were chained up and malnourished, and Bandit-O was so weak that he couldn’t stand.

We have promised that once the dogs are healed and well enough to travel, we will provide them with comfort, care and affection until we are able to place them in loving homes here in Maine.

All three are receiving lifesaving medical care in Georgia, but sadly the Sumter Humane Society has far fewer resources and far more animals than most northern shelters. We would like to cover the cost of medical care for these pups. We estimate that we will need to raise at least $5,000 to cover their cost of care, and that number will likely be higher.
