Help Us Raise $75,000 for our 75th Anniversary, and Double Your Impact!
How It Began
In 1950, a small group of Brunswick residents grew concerned about the wellbeing of the area’s stray animals. Their compassion inspired them to create the Brunswick Animal Shelter. Although the accommodations were modest, this exceptional group of people took the first step toward creating a brighter future for the animals of Midcoast Maine by forming the organization that has grown to become Midcoast Humane.
Because of the compassion and ongoing support of our community, we are proud to reach an important milestone—our 75th anniversary! In honor of this achievement, we are thrilled to announce that two of our most generous supporters have issued a $75,000 Match Challenge! For every dollar raised during our 75th year, these supporters will contribute an equal amount, up to $75,000.
The Need is Great
Samosa came to Midcoast Humane with several littermates when she was just four months old. The kittens had been living outside and were feral, not having interacted with people before. She was so sick when she arrived that we were unsure if she would make it. Through a variety of medical interventions at our shelter, including subcutaneous fluids, nebulizer treatments, antibiotics, and more, her condition improved. She was moved into a foster home while she grew healthier and stronger.
Your Donation Will be Doubled
Without your help, we would not be able to help animals like Samosa. Please consider donating toward our $75,000 match. Your donation will be doubled, making twice the impact and helping even more homeless animals get the medical attention, comfort and safety they so desperately need.
So far in 2025, we found new homes for 515 animals, provided shelter for 139 stray animals, reunited 56 cats and dogs with their families, and provided public assistance services to 178 families in our service area. With an additional $150,000, we could do so much more.
On behalf of the thousands of homeless animals that will enter our doors this year, seeking refuge and medical care, thank you for your generosity. Your gift will save lives.
With heartfelt thanks,
