Hi! I'm Lucy!
Lucy first made her way to our shelter in December 2016 on a transport from the south as a young pup. She has been adopted twice and was very well loved in both of her homes. Much was learned in these homes and we are using that knowledge to help find this sweet cuddle bug a better fit for her. She is an affectionate and playful girl who adores rides in the car! She has a happy, loving nature and is energetic, yet gentle and bonds strongly with her family. She would love to be a lap dog as long as she had regular outlets for her energy! We understand she is a very fast runner so if you are looking for a partner on your hikes or in your races, she may just be the girl for you! Lucy would do best in an active adult-only home or one with children who are old enough (10+ recommended) and dog savvy enough to understand that they should not push Lucy past her comfort zone. Any potential child siblings or housemates will need to do a meet and greet with Lucy prior to being adopted. We feel that Lucy should be in a pet-free home due to previous negative interactions with pets in her homes. She can be shy and anxious in a new environment so she would definitely benefit from continued socialization with new people, places and experiences. She is fairly light and easy to walk on a leash, but would certainly benefit from continued leash and basic obedience training. A few fun facts about Lucy: 1) She will chomp her teeth to let you know that she wants to go out. 2) She will roll over on her back with her belly up when she feels you are upset with her.
Lucy is a little sweetheart who is very intuitive and lovable. She is looking for a family that is loving, compassionate, and patient who will commit to helping her become the very best she can be. When she finds that she will truly blossom and be the perfect dog! If you have any additional questions about this gorgeous girl, please feel free to call the shelter at (207) 449-1366, Ext. 206 or stop by and ask to meet her in person!
