Hi! I'm Django!
Django is new to the adoption floor so we are still getting to know him!
He was an owner surrender due to a reported strong prey drive and unpredictability with new people. What we have learned while he has been with us is that he can be wary of strangers at first, but once you gain his trust, he is fairly easy to leash up and walk. He did well with the submissive female dog in the home, and has enjoyed playgroups at the shelter with other dogs his size as long as they respected his space bubble.
His family described him as being housebroken and crate-trained, loves to play with balls, is great on car rides, and likes to run, LOVES HIKING AND SWIMMING, paddle boats, canoes, and walks well with gentle leader…. He likes to snuggle on his own terms. He is nervous around loud noises, children and strangers.
We recommend that Django go to an adult home and if there are children in the home, they should be 13 and up and must come in to meet him to see how he does with them. Due to his prey drive with smaller animals, we recommend that he does not go to a home with cats or smaller dogs. Any canine housemate must come in to see how they feel about one another.
If you are looking for a best mate to enjoy the great outdoors with, Django would love to meet you!
We will update you as we get to know him better, but in the meantime please stop by to meet Django or give us a call at 207-449-1366 ext. 206 with any questions.
